Pec (Punjab examination Commission) is an autonomous body established by the Government of Punjab to assess the learning achievements of elementary level students in the Province of Punjab. This system works on the base of feedback provided by 36 districts, which helps in the policy decision making, educational management and improvement in student's learning.
History of the district started in 1288 when the Hazrat Shah Jalal Bukhari gives advice to Rai Sial to built this place but Mal Khan was consider as the first ruler of the land in 1462. About 360 years this place was ruled by Sail tribes. After that Britisher period was started and they govern this state. Mostly population of the land are Muslims so at the time of sub continent division this area becomes a part of Muslims .Hindus and Sikhs also lived there after independence of Pakistan they migrated to India. Garhi Maharaj was the name of this land in the past.

Jhang District belongs to one of the oldest as well as beautiful historical places of Pakistan located in Punjab Province. Capital of the district is Jhang.At the time of independence its population was about 2.8 million, which is risen to 3.5 million according 2008 census. Punjabi language is usually spoken by the people of this district but Urdu being a national language is also understandable as well as spoken here. This is establishing in 1849. Total area in which the land is spread is about 8,809 square kilometers and time zone is PST (UTC+5a). It is located in between 30.37 to 31.59 degree North latitudes and 71.37 to 73.13 degree East longitudes, lies in central Punjab. The district is divided in to four tehsils namely: Jhang, Chiniot, Shorkot and Ahmed Pur Sial. Boundaries of the district joins from the West with Khushab, Bhakkar and Layyah ,from the East with Toba Tek Singh and Faislabad ,from North-East it joins with Hafizabad , from South it join Khanewal and Sarghoda joins from the North. Mostly part of the land is plain so there is no possibility of the cultivation in the land.

As we above mention that this is an historical place therefore there are many old buildings and tombs exits that make this place more traditional and famous place of the worlds. One of the most famous tomb of the district is Heer. This was built on the history of love between Heer and Ranjha. Famous towns of the district are Chiniot , Ahmedpur Sial ,Shorkot ,Haveli Bahdar Shah, Dharopah, Rabwah, Sheikhan, ShahJiwana, Atharan Hazari , Lalian,Bhowana, Painsera, Kamoka Chak, Idlana Sharif,garh maharaja and Basti jatiana toba road .In the district there are a lot private and Government schools and Colleges are operating .There are budding place in the district for many renewed education institutes. Technical institutes are also present here but still the district needs more educational improvement because there is no university in it therefore student faces many difficulties in order to getting higher education they moved to other areas of Pakistan. Maqbool Ahmed Dhawla is the present Government District Coordination Officer and District police Officer is Zeeshan Asghar.Following are the names of main police stations in the district: Jhang Sadar, Jhang City, Kotwali P/O, Qadir Pur, Massan, Barana, Mochi Wala, and Athara Hazari.

Weather of the district is moderate and enjoyable; simply it is not too cold or hot. Maximum temperature recorded is 38.2 oC and 4.5 oC is the minimum temperature recorded in the district. About 180 mm is the average annual rainfall in this district. Dust storms are also occasionally seen here. The district is connected by road as well as railway to different cities of Pakistan. Unfortunately there is no any air service yet. Rather than the products of the district this land is famous for its peoples. Peoples of this area are healthy, tall, and strong and color is whitish complexion. Usually men wear Majhla, a Kurta or Chola, a Chadar and a Turban or Pugri and womens wear Shalwar Qameez or Majhla (Lungi) besides Chola and Dopatta. Well manner, broad minded, hospitable and progressive are the characteristics of peoples of the land. Major crops of the land are cotton and wheat.

In this area Punjabi folk dances are very famous such as Jhummar is a popular dance for men which Sammi is a famous dance for women. Dhola or Jhang da Dhola is the popular form of folk music. Tent pagging (naiza baazi) and kabaddi are also famous activities of men here and Teeyan and Trinjan is favorite work of the women here in which they used to weave cloths. There are so many tribes lived in the districts namely: KALOANA SIAL, Ramana Sial, Qazi, Khokhar, Bharwana Sial, Janjyana, Bhujwana sial,Rujbaba, Bhabrana,Sargana, Sadhana, Bhatti, Sipra, Syed ,Arain , Awan ,Baloch,Sheikh,Sial, Fatyana, Mohal ,Qureshi ,Jatts , Rajput and so on. This is a land of many famous personalities like Abdul Salam, Syeda Abida Hussain, Abol Hasan Ansari, Nazeer Naji, Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada, Tahir-ul-Qadri and Faisal Saleh Hayat.
Every year these elementary level examinations are conducted by authorities in the month of February. Punjab Education Commission issues the date sheet in the first week of January along with roll number slips. With the advancement in technology it has opened an IT based window to deal directly with the student's problems, and provide them efficient solutions online. Now as per government policy, grade 5 and 8 examinations are mandatory for all the students of private / public schools and madaris functioning within the province of Punjab. So a misconception that papers conducted by Pec are optional is totally false and baseless.
Jhang Board will announce the 5th and 8th class result 2014 in the last week of March, last year it was announced on 30th March.
